ABBA The Show

De voormalige Abba-leden Benny Andersson en Björn Ulvaeus nemen juridische stappen tegen een Deense politieke partij als die hun liedje blijft gebruiken.
De rechtse Deense Volkspartij (DF) gebruikt de hit Mamma Mia regelmatig op politieke bijeenkomsten.
De jeugdafdeling van DF heeft de songtekst van het lied uit 1976 zelfs speciaal veranderd voor leider Pia Kjaersgaard in Mamma Pia. "Ten eerste kun je een lied niet zomaar herschrijven en ten tweede willen we duidelijk maken dat we die partij absoluut niet ondersteunen", reageert Ulvaeus.
Andersson hoorde over het gebruik van zijn lied toen een linkse groepering hem vroeg of hij het eens is met de ideeën van DF. De partij staat bekend om haar anti-immigratiebeleid. De Abba-leden hebben advocaten in de arm genomen die ervoor moeten zorgen dat het lied niet meer gebruikt wordt.

ABBA THE SHOW komt eenmalig naar Nederland. De ABBA tribute band Waterloo, opgericht in 1996, neemt je mee terug naar de tijd van ABBA met ballades als Thank You For The Music, The Winner Takes It All en klassiekers zoals Super Trouper en Take A Chance On Me. Waterloo bestaat uit de zangeressen Katja Nord en Camilla Hedrén, die Frida en Agnetha vertolken. Zij worden muzikaal ondersteund door ruim dertig man, waaronder ervaren ABBA musici Ulf Andersson en Janne Schaffer.
Met daarnaast maar liefst twaalf trucks aan materiaal, is ABBA THE SHOW het grootste spektakel na ABBA. De show zorgde wereldwijd voor uitverkochte zalen en een gastoptreden in de Royal Albert Hall te Londen. ABBA THE SHOW is zelfs door de kritische, officiële internationale ABBA-fanclub benoemd tot “de beste ABBA sinds ABBA”. Tijdens hun Europese tour doen zij op 28 januari 2011 eenmalig de Heineken Music Hall te Amsterdam aan.

Een bijzonder huwelijkscadeau voor de Zweedse kroonprinses Victoria.en haar verloofde.Daniel Westling. Het stel krijgt een liedje van ABBA legende Benny Andersson. Dit meldt de Duitse Bild.
Andersson zal speciaal voor het paar een liedje schrijven. Deze zal op de vooravond van het huwelijk worden gepresenteerd.
In een interview met de Britse krant The Times hebben Benny Andersson en Björn Ulvaeus, de twee mannelijke leden van Abba, een van ‘s werelds meest populaire en succesvolle popgroepen ooit, de deur op een kier gelaten voor een mogelijke reünietoernee van de vier.
Gevraagd naar een eenmalige wereldtoernee - een idee dat een paar jaar geleden ondanks een bod van 1 miljard dollar voor 100 concerten nog werd weggelachen- antwoordde Andersson: ‘Ja, waarom niet?'
Hij voegde eraan toe: ‘Ik weet niet of de meisjes nog zingen. Ik weet dat Frida in de studio's zat.
Maar eigenlijk is het geen slecht idee.'
Vraag blijft dus of de vrouwelijke leden van Abba zin hebben in een reünie.
Agneta Fältskog leeft als een kluizenares op een afgelegen Zweeds eiland en heeft altijd herhaald dat ze een afkeer heeft van roem en faam.
Frida Lyngstad huwde een Duits Edelman en voert de titel van prinses.

Björn en Frida openen ABBAWorld

Vanavond om Earl's Court, werd ABBAWorld officieel geopend door Björn en Frida. Zie onderstaande foto's uit de exclusieve evenement.
Naast het spreken over het plezier in worden gehonoreerd door middel van deze fantastische ervaring, Björn en Frida zowel bedankte de organisatoren voor hun werk over wat is "enige tijd".
Frida is gebleken dat zij en Björn was op een rondleiding door het museum tijdens de middag en hadden veel plezier. Frida leek vooral dol op de interactieve elementen en zei dat zij en Björn hadden deelgenomen 'Niet zo goed als we ooit waren, maar niet slecht! " zei ze.
Chief Executive Universal Music International Lucian Grainge leidt het paar met een gloeiende eerbetoon aan professionaliteit ABBA's. Hij sprak ook van het feit dat ze zo gemakkelijk om mee te werken. Daarna onthulde hij een trofee aan 375m record verkoop vieren. "Niet nog een!" grapte Björn.
Magnus Danielsson, voorzitter van Touring Tentoonstellingen leek erg opgelucht dat de opening nacht eindelijk was gekomen en weer bedankt alle voormalige leden van ABBA voor hun inzet aan het project. Hij maakte ook een punt van te zeggen wat een plezier de kantoren van Görel Hanser en Mono Muziek was mee te werken.

Wat was het geheim achter hun liedjes? Waren de drie minuten popsongs werkelijk zo goed?
Aan de hand van een computeranalyse en persoonlijke voorkeuren wordt gekeken hoe de ABBA-hits het vandaag de dag in de hitlijsten zouden doen.
Een terugblik op de vele hits van ABBA, de ontwikkeling in hun muziek en teksten becommentarieerd door de bandleden zelf (inclusief Agnetha) en popsterren als Bono en Robin Gibb.
Ook de soms klassieke clips worden getoond, ABBA was één van de voorlopers met het maken van geraffineerde filmpjes bij hun muziek en werkte met grote regisseurs zoals Lasse Hallström.

ABBA-drummer bloedt dood na bizar ongeluk

Oud-drummer Ola Brunkert van de Zweedse popgroep ABBA is dood aangetroffen bij zijn huis op het Spaanse eiland Mallorca. Hij zou zijn doodgebloed door een flinke wond aan zijn keel.
De politie denkt dat Brunkert (61) door een glazen keukendeur is gevallen waarbij een glasscherf zijn keel raakte.
Hij is toen naar de tuin gekropen waar hij uiteindelijk is doodgebloed. Een buurman vond hem daar.
Ongeluk
De politie denkt dat gaat om een tragisch ongeluk, maar sluit een misdrijf voorlopig nog niet uit, aldus The Daily Telegraph. Brunkert woonde alleen en er waren geen sporen van braak.
Brunkert begeleidde het viertal van Abba onder meer toen het in één klap wereldfaam verwierf op het songfestival van 1974 met het nummer Waterloo. Hij is op alle platen van Abba te beluisteren en ging vaak met de groep op tournee.
Wie goed kijkt naar deze live-uitvoering van Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man after Midnight) in het Londense Wembley Stadion in 1979, kan een glimp opvangen van Brunkert achter de drums.
Het eerste ABBA Museum ter wereld opent in juni 2009 zijn deuren. Dat maakten de initiatiefnemers woensdag bekend.
Ulf Westman, het brein achter het project, en zijn vrouw Ewa Wigenheim-Westman lieten weten dat van 3 tot en met 7 juni 2009 de hele week in het teken van feest staat.
Volgens het echtpaar krijgt het museum een internationaal en multimediaal karakter. De tentoonstelling zal meer dan 4000 vierkante meter beslaan.
Alle vier de leden van de legendarische Zweedse discogroep hebben hun medewerking aan het museum toegezegd. Zij stellen kleding, instrumenten en muziek beschikbaar.

Het complex zal drie verdiepingen beslaan, waar zich onder meer een ruimte bevindt met kleding van de leden van de superpopgroep en een plek waar fans hun eigen opnamen kunnen maken van een Abba-hit.

Het schijfje leverde Philips de afgelopen twee decennia 'honderden miljoenen' per jaar aan omzet op.
In 1979 startten wetenschappers van Philips en Sony de ontwikkeling van een nieuwe muziekdrager die in geluidskwaliteit de LP en het cassettebandje moest overtreffen.
Philips kreeg een belang van zestig procent in het project en Sony veertig procent.
De compact disc, of kortweg de cd, wordt geboren. Het schijfje krijgt een capaciteit voor 74 minuten muziek, precies genoeg om de negende symphonie van Beethoven in een keer te kunnen beluisteren.
Drie jaar later, op 17 augustus 1982, is het zover.

De acteur is in de laatste fase van de onderhandelingen om zich even niet tussen het geluid van langsvliegende kogels, maar tussen de klanken van vrolijke Abba-deuntjes als 'Dancing Queen' en 'Take a Chance On Me' te begeven.
Het verhaal gaat over een bruid die drie potentiële vaders uitnodigt op haar bruiloft. Brosnan zal een van deze mannen spelen en de bruid zal worden gespeeld door Amanda Seyfried, bekend van de film Mean Girls. Ook actrice Meryl Streep zal een rol vertolken in het muziekspektakel. De Britse toneelregisseur Phyllida Lloyd zal met 'Mamma Mia!' haar speelfilmdebuut maken.
'Mamma Mia!' zal nog wel even op zich laten wachten, de film wordt in de zomer van 2008 in de bioscoop verwacht.

Het is de eerste keer dat Streep in een musical te zien zal zijn, hoewel ze vorig jaar wel al zingend te bewonderen was in 'A prairie home companion', een film van de vorig jaar overleden regisseur Robert Altman.
'Mamma mia!' vertelt het verhaal van een aanstaande bruid die is opgegroeid op een Grieks eiland.
Omdat haar moeder toen ze jong was een wispelturig liefdesleven had, weet ze niet wie haar vader is.
Op haar bruiloft nodigt ze daarom drie potentiële vaders uit.
Streep speelt de moeder.
Wanneer de opnamen van de film van start gaan, is niet bekend.
De musical 'Mamma mia!' was te zien op West End, Broadway en in Las Vegas. Ook de Nederlandse versie, met Simone Kleinsma in de hoofdrol, was een succes.

ABBA-zanger Björn Ulvaeus ontduikt belasting

De Zweedse belastingdienst eist een bedrag van 1,8 miljoen euro van ABBA-ster Björn Ulvaeus.
De zanger zou geen aangifte hebben gedaan van de belasting die hij over royalty's van de hits die de groep scoorde moet betalen.
Adviseurs van Ulvaeus wilden donderdag niet op de claim reageren.
Het is de tweede keer dat de belastingdienst de 61-jarige muzikant betrapt op belastingontduiking.
Vorig jaar werd voor een bedrag van tien miljoen euro aan niet betaalde belastingen ontdekt.
De belastingdienst meent dat de 61-jarige artiest in de jaren 2004 en 2005 dat bedrag heeft verstopt in het buitenland, via een constructie naar het Caribisch gebied.
Ulvaeus ging al in beroep tegen de aanslag van vorig jaar, en laat het er ook nu niet bij zitten.
De fiscus stemde in het bedrag te verlagen tot ruim zeven miljoen euro, maar Ulvaeus ging daartegen in beroep. Het is niet duidelijk hoe het nu met de zaak staat.
Ulvaeus is samen met Benny Anderson oprichter van ABBA.
De vierkoppige groep, die verder bestond uit Agnetha Faltskog en Anni-Frid Lyngstad, was in de jaren zeventig en begin jaren tachtig ongekend populair en verkocht wereldwijd meer dan 370 miljoen albums.

Zag dat de monden in het liedje van mijn vorige log in het begin wel klopten met de muziek. maar wat later in de song ging het niet helemaal goed meer.
Of het ligt aan mijn ogen ??

Maar een kniesoor die hierop let ......alleeen bij mensen die de tekst kennen valt het op.

Westman verwacht vanaf de opening jaarlijks een half miljoen gasten.

Robbie Williams heeft al vaker gezegd dat hij fan is van de legendarische popgroep ABBA en dat hij graag een paar nummers met de band zou willen opnemen.
Dat is echter niet zo eenvoudig als het lijkt, want sinds het uiteenvallen van ABBA in 1983 hebben Agnetha, Björn, Benny en Anni-Frid niet meer als groep met elkaar samengewerkt.
Maar Robbie lijkt op het punt te staan om het onmogelijke mogelijk te maken.
Volgens bronnen heeft de zanger met ABBA-zangeres Anni-Frid gesproken over een gemeenschappelijk project.
In eerste instantie zou het gaan over een cover van de hit 'Dancing Queen', maar later zou Robbie ook nieuwe nummers met het viertal willen opnemen.
De inmiddels 60-jarige Anni-Frid Lyngstad is alvast enthousiast over het project, ook al weet ze niet zeker of het er van zal komen.
"Robbie en ik hebben erover gesproken om samen een ABBA-hit op te nemen, maar hij is er sindsdien niet meer op teruggekomen", aldus de zangeres.
Toch wordt er druk gespeculeerd dat de groep zich onder leiding van Robbie zou laten verleiden tot een reünie. Het zou in elk geval een geweldige stunt zijn, en de ideale manier om ook een oudere generatie te laten kennismaken met de muziek van Robbie.

Het kan één van de vele ballonnetjes zijn die dezer dagen door de Zweedse pers worden opgelaten over Melodifestivalen, de megapopulaire Zweedse Eurosong, maar volgens de krant Expressen zouden Björn Ulvaüs en Benny Andersson, de muzikale tandem achter de legendarische Zweedse groep ABBA een compositie klaar hebben voor het damestrio Florence.
Eerder ging het gerucht dat Benny en Björn een nummer klaar zouden hebben voor Songfestivalveteraan Tommy Körberg, die Zweden in 1968 en 1988 op het Songfestival vertegenwoordigde. De link met het ABBA-herenduo was niet eens vergezocht, want Körberg vertolkte destijds één van de hoofdrollen in de musical Chess.
Het zou opnieuw de Chess-link zijn die ertoe heeft bijgedragen dat Benny & Björn een nummer aan het klaarstomen zijn voor Florence. Het relatief onbekende damestrio bestaat uit Lisa Ostberg, Sara Jangfelt en Anna Granath. De dames maakten recent hun opwachting in de opvoeringen van Chess in de Zweedse hoofdstad Stokholm. Benny Andersson heeft hun debuutalbum Feel geproducet.
Als het gerucht van Expressen klopt zal Florence een wild card krijgen voor deelname aan de Zweedse voorronde 2007.

The Day Before You Came
I must have left my house at eight, because I always do
My train, I'm certain, left the station just when it was due
